Tomato Koshimbir Epulaeryu Poem

The “Epulaeryu” poem is about delicious food. This is a new poetic form, however I have modified it to make it easy in structure.

Ripe tomatoes cleaned and diced

Chopped onions with chili powder spiced

Coarse ground peanuts are sprinkled in haste

Chopped cilantro for that fresh salad taste

Salt and sugar just a hint

Maybe even leaves of green mint

Enjoy the divine crunchy Koshimbir.

[Koshimbir is Salad in Marathi an Indian language.]

Frugal life - Pantoum

I believe in really simple living
Frugal sustainable and debt free
Financially secure with high thinking
The happiness on our faces you can see

Frugal sustainable and debt free
Our needs are provided, wants are shrinking
The happiness on our faces you can see
Living on budget with proper planning

Our needs are provided, wants are shrinking
Our small house is clean and clutter free
Living on a budget with proper planning
The vegetable garden, what a sight to see

Our small house is clean and clutter free
Economy and sustainability tops our budgeting
The vegetable garden, what a sight to see
It’s wonderful to do hands on gardening

Economy and sustainability tops our budgeting
Financially secure with high thinking
It’s wonderful to do hands on gardening
I believe in really simple living.

Simple living - Pantoum

We lived our lives with simplicity
Everybody had quite a bit of tenacity
Each one calmly accepted their fate
There was no support from the city or state

Everybody had quite a bit of tenacity
Life path was simple with ample clarity
There was no support from the city or state
Hardworking folks hoped for a small estate

Life path was simple with ample clarity
Nobody liked to receive charity
Hardworking folks hoped for a small estate
Small loans, payments all up to date

Nobody liked to receive charity
Hoping for more rights, still doing their duty
Small loans, payments all up to date
Incomes grew at really slow rate

Hoping for more rights, still doing their duty
Villagers were moving to the city
Incomes grew at really slow rate
People hoped their poverty would abate

Villagers were moving to the city
Low wages still worked with alacrity
People hoped their poverty would abate
High moral values were ideas to propagate

Low wages still worked with alacrity
Rich and poor lived in same vicinity
High moral values were ideas to propagate
Rich and poor could easily congregate

Rich and poor lived in same vicinity
Honesty, integrity, hard work without self pity
Rich and poor could easily congregate
Hard work pushed us to prosperity

Honesty, integrity, hard work without self pity
Everybody had quite a bit of tenacity
Hard work pushed us to prosperity
We lived our lives with simplicity

Preposition

About something she was talking

Above the din, I heard nothing

Across the road, I saw a dog running

After a fox who looks stunning

Against all odds, he jumped the wall

Along the road to the water fall

Amid this commotion she was now walking

Among the cars near the fencing

Around the corner something was happening

At the intersection, there was smoke billowing

Before I could get up and check out

Behind me, there was a shout

Below, in the grass and dirt

Beneath the table, I saw a black skirt

Beside, her was a man with brown shoes

Between them a little girl with red big toes

Beyond them I could not really see

By now, I am running free

Down I cannot stay for long

During that time she came along

Except, that she was trembling

For, the man next to her was bleeding

From, the stone in the dirt

In, the ribs it really hurt

Into, the commotion I ran like rabbit

Like, it is my old habit

Near, the scene there was a gathering

Of, onlookers some were now darting

Off, the road near the water fall

On, the side street with trees tall

Onto, the concrete wall

Out, in the sky a chopper comes in

Over, the intersection cameras zoom in

Past, the gridlock an officer runs in haste

Since, there is no time to waste

Through, the simmering tension

Throughout, the intersection

To, control the situation from abnormal

Toward, the new normal

Under, the plume of smoke black and bad

Underneath, the wreck is trapped a lad

Until, now must be dead

Up, in the wreckage a trapped head

Upon, which the debris is stacked

With, effort he is separated

Within, minutes he is rushed away

Without Grace of god, he may pass away.

Jennifer - Acrostic Poem

An acrostic poem for a girl named Jennifer.  Today these words just flowed out in form of an acrostic poem for Jennifer.

Just share with love what you can give
Enjoy in gratitude whatever you receive
Never doubt the teachings of the holy book
Never give the dark doubts a second look
In the divine light feel blessed when you walk
Father in heaven blesses the truth that you talk
Earthly possessions cannot make us complete
Returning to our Lord gives us bliss which won’t deplete.

Rice and more rice - Poem

Rice, rice and more rice
brown or white or wild rice
good nutrition at cheap price.

Rice, rice why this condemnation
keep carbs in check eat in moderation
rice helps people in many a nation.

Rice, rice you are so easy to cook
soft silky feel and that fluffy look
everybody loves you be a cop or crook.

Rice, rice this my report
you travel the world as an export
you land in my mouth without a passport.

Rice, rice there are many ways to taste you
steamed, fried or ferment to name a few
why do people love you give me a clue.

For your appreciation my dear poet I must thank you
you see God created me just to feed you
bye, got to go with vegetable stew.

Cooking Rice - Poem

So you want to cook your food
Your idea is brave and thinking good

A man must know to cook for one
Until he meets the special one

Learn to cook by cooking plain rice
It is simple just try to cook once or twice

Add a pinch of salt to the boiling water
Put in the rice and see it grow fatter

In fifteen minutes the rice will be done
Promise to cook next time for more than one.

I believe -Pantoum Poem

I believe -Pantoum Poem

I believe, Jesus is always with me
valley of death has many dangers.
his presence keeps me worry free
guided I make friends of strangers.

valley of death has many dangers
I am alone, but never lonely.
guided I make friends of strangers
it is my faith in jesus one and only.

I am alone, but never lonely
who makes me choose right from wrong.
it is my faith in jesus one and only
who stengthens and makes me strong.

who makes me choose right from wrong
he comforts me when I am in need.
who stengthens and makes me strong
his guidance keeps me away from greed.

he comforts me when I am in need
his presence keeps me worry free.
his guidance keeps me away from greed
I believe, Jesus is always with me.

Disabled

Disabled

Man in a wheelchair, people see disability
Brilliant cells of the brain, they are his ability

How can he achieve resounding success?
When everywhere he has to fight for, access

Time and energy spent on working the bureaucracy
Are these the fruits of governments in democracy

Future looks like a forest in mist
Disabled, you are last on the list.

Poets note: As a disabled person, reflects my life.

Local pub is now so boring
Life is much more than chick scoring
Lessons of life are learnt in love.

Cinquain –Poem by Win Phatak

Cinquain is a small poem of just five lines. Adelaide Crapsey developed the cinquain; it has a strict structure based on syllable count. Crapsey criterion for a cinquain is five lines of accentual-syllabic verse, in which the lines comprise, in order, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 1 stresses and 2, 4, 6, 8, and 2 syllables. Crapsey always titled her cinquains, effectively utilizing the title as a sixth line. A cinquain depends on strict structure and intense physical imagery to communicate a mood or feeling.

Abortion

Why, why
Are you killing
The unborn female child
She is the future of our race
Stop now.

This is a Cinquain  style poem conveying the anguish about killing unborn girls in India.
